Our tours
Will we be riding the camels or walking with them?
We try and make our tours as authentic as possible, so for most of the time we walk with the camels, just like nomads do, and the camels carry all of our stuff. However, we always offer the opportunity to ride the camels for short periods of time during your trek. If you’d prefer to ride the whole way due to mobility issues or any other reason, this is possible - just let us know when you book.
Do I need to be young or super fit to go on a trek?
No! People of all ages go on our treks, from young children to senior citizens. You just need to have a reasonable level of fitness and mobility. Bear in mind that as well as walking, you will be sleeping and sitting on the ground. If you have any concerns or would like us to tailor a trek to suit your specific needs, please email us.
How long do we trek for?
Typically, we will trek for between three and five hours a day, with a leisurely break around lunch time, but our guides will go at your pace. If you’d prefer to walk shorter or longer distances, just let us know.
Can I take my children on a trek?
Yes. Trekking with camels is an amazing adventure for kids and we welcome children of any age. You know your children best, so we don’t impose a minimum age limit, but we would suggest that our Sahara for Beginners tour is probably most suitable for younger children.
Is this a private tour or will I be with other people?
Most of our tours are private, but occasionally if there are two small groups who want to do the same tour on the same date, we may ask them if they’d be okay trekking together. However, we’ll always check this with you first and if you’d prefer not to, it’s not a problem.
What languages do the guides speak?
All our guides speak English and Arabic while we can also provide French-speaking guides. If you require guides that speak another language, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
What meals are provided?
All our treks include breakfast, lunch and dinner while you’re out in the desert.
What kind of food can I expect?
The menu may vary according to the season, but as a rule, for breakfast, you can expect something light, such as bread with cheese, jam, butter and honey, or sometimes eggs, served with mint tea, coffee and milk. At lunch you can expect salad, grilled chicken with rice, and beans or lentils, followed by fruits.
Dinner is normally soup and a meat and vegetable tagine - a type of stew which is a staple of Moroccan cuisine - with pasta, rice or couscous, followed by fruit for dessert. You may also be offered light refreshments between the main meals, such as dried fruits or pancakes with mint tea, to boost energy recovery.
What drinks are provided? Can I drink alcohol?
We provide as much mineral water and tea and coffee as you can drink. Alcohol is not provided so if you want to drink it, you will need to bring your own.
Can you cater for vegetarians, vegans or people with food allergies?
Yes, our chef can cook vegetarian or vegan food - just let us know in advance. We can also provide gluten-free options, but bear in mind that Moroccan cuisine is heavily carbohydrate based, so the menu may be quite basic. If you have any other intolerances or allergies, please make sure you let us know at the point of booking.
